WHY IS CZECHIA THE #SMARTCHOICE?

Consider studying abroad. Everything is concentrated in one spot in Czechia. High-quality education, a wide range of study options, and reasonably priced housing in a lovely and secure nation. Additionally, it is the best position for exploring Europe. Travel, work, study, and live!

HIGH QUALITY OF EDUCATION WITH AFFORDABLE LIVING COSTS

Without becoming bankrupt, treat yourself to the best. Czechia offers an economical student lifestyle in addition to some of the best colleges in Central Europe. The QS EECA University Rankings 2022 TOP 300 includes 17 universities. A typical student room costs 190 euros per month, and a meal in the student canteen will set you back about 4 euros.

OUT OF ALL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, 18 % ARE INTERNATIONAL

Join the Czech Republic's community of foreign students! There are now 304,000 students enrolled in degree programs in Czech universities, of which around 54,000 are foreigners, and 15,000 are enrolled in short-term study programs. Additionally, you may become a STUDY IN ambassador, tell people about your experience, and develop your professional social media skills.

POSSIBILITY TO WORK DURING STUDIES

Having a part-time job is very common, and as a student, you don´t need an employment permit. However, the work should not affect your academic results and studies must remain the main reason for your stay in Czechia. After graduation, you can stay for up to 9 months and find a job or start your own business.

ESTABLISHED NATIONAL PROGRAMME THAT PUTS ALUMNI AHEAD

International graduates who would suggest studying in Czechia are 97%. You may sign up for our alumni program to remain in contact with us, tell us about yourself, and take part in our events across the world.

Many students work and study simultaneously. Working part-time or over the summer is fairly prevalent in Czechia. International students can also work; however, be aware that job opportunities may be restricted because most positions demand proficiency in Czech. However, many multinational corporations operate in major cities, and your ability to speak or comprehend many languages may be advantageous.

CAN I WORK WHILE OR AFTER STUDYING?

Do you want to work in Czechia during or after your university studies? You are permitted to work while studying, but please keep in mind that you are in Czechia on a study visa, therefore paid labor cannot be your major activity during your stay. Your employment should not interfere with your academics.

The procedure differs depending on where you are from and whether you are a full-time student or a graduate.

CITIZENS OF THE EU/EEA OR SWITZERLAND

Citizens of the EU/EEA and Switzerland, as well as their family members, do not require an employment permit, Employee Card, or Blue Card to work in Czechia. Because Czechia is a member of the European Union, these nationals enjoy the same legal status as Czech citizens. Visit the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs' website for further information.

CITIZENS FROM COUNTRIES OTHER THAN THE EU/EEA

Third-country students (those who are not EU/EAA or Swiss nationals) who are enrolled in a degree program authorized by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports do not require an employment visa. The employer is merely required to notify the relevant Public Employment Service regional office of the commencement of your job.

Third-country students who come only for a student exchange program or distance learning form of study are also permitted to work without an employment permit, but only if they are under the age of 26 and their work performance does not exceed 7 consecutive calendar days or 30 days in a calendar year.

If you are a third-country citizen who had your university education in Czechia, have completed your studies, and desire to work in the Czech Republic, you must apply for an employee card. Foreign nationals who have completed a university education in the Czech Republic enjoy unrestricted access to the labor market. In this situation, the employee card only functions as a long-term residence permit if the declared objective of the foreign national's presence (for more than three months) is employment.

For further information, see the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs' dedicated webpage.

Contact the Integration Centre Prague or the Association for Integration and Migration for legal guidance.

The Czech Republic is a member of the European Union (EU), although its currency is not the EU euro. The Czech crown (CZK), often known as the Koruna, is the country's currency. The Czech Republic's living costs are seen as reasonable, particularly for an EU nation with good living standards. The Czech Republic is one of the most economical European Union countries, thanks to low-cost public transportation, healthcare, and entertainment.

Czech living costs

The average monthly cost of living in the Czech Republic for students ranges from 350 to 750 USD. This covers lodging, public transportation, food, and cultural activities. However, the typical expenditures may vary depending on the city and the individual's lifestyle.
